What does the collection include?
The "Luminous Planet In Trouble" collection consists of sixteen richly illustrated applications, created based on logic games and puzzles. Each game begins with a short story about the Coders, which explains the purpose of the game to children and ends with a reward in the form of congratulations and applause. The applications have been designed in such a way as to provide a portion of entertainment and movement that is an excellent variety of daily activities, while offering a friendly form of work on basic programming concepts. The applications are pleasantly and subtly soundtracked to further enhance the time children spend playing on the interactive floor.
All applications included in the collection are embedded in an interesting narrative. Coders are small robots that communicate with each other using a code from colorful diodes. The energy flow on their planet was disturbed by the Drakonids rain - a swarm of cosmic meteors. The applications contain various examples of how to help the Coders restore communication, very important for the proper functioning of their planet. The applications from the "Luminous Planet In Trouble" collection have been marked with graphics, which received a nomination in 2020 in the Polish Graphics Design Awards competition in the Motion graphics - Interactive animation category.
What goals does it achieve?
The "Luminous Planet In Trouble" collection is the first part of the original programming methodology at the stage of early education of children, developed by the team from LavaVision. The applications included in the collection aim to introduce students of grades 1-3 of primary school to the world of selected programming concepts in an interesting, attractive formula of games and puzzles. In addition, activities proposed in the applications from the "Luminous Planet In Trouble" collection can support the development of gross motor skills as well as logical and algorithmic thinking.
The applications included in the collection aim to introduce school-age children to the world of selected programming concepts in an interesting, attractive formula of games and movement puzzles. The games illustrate: logical values - true or false, data sorting, data collection and ordering, information encryption, iterative loop, pattern recognition, conditional instruction, communication, pair programming, backup copy of the code, specification, decomposition, sequence, instruction, algorithm, troubleshooting, special characters, searching in a set according to a given criterion.
The authors of the collection tried to respond to the developmental needs of children in early school age, focusing primarily on supporting motor and sensory skills during organized safe games and puzzles.
Active support for child development
During play with the Coders, you can shape:
- visual perception;
- gross motor skills;
- the ability to concentrate attention;
- logical and algorithmic thinking;
- the ability to classify objects;
- the ability to recognize patterns and patterns;
- knowledge of using the internet and computer;
- understanding of selected concepts and concepts from the field of programming.
Additional materials for teachers
For the "Luminous Planet In Trouble" application collection, a methodological guide for early school education teachers has been developed, which will suggest to them how to conduct classes with children so that playing with the Coders becomes a method of learning about interesting concepts from the world of programming. We invite you to an inspiring reading in the following chapters.
