Motioncube offers four motion detection techniques designed for depth cameras. Each technique is optimized for different environments and interaction types. Below you will find an overview of each mode, including their recommended use cases.

Motion detection operates in two main precision profiles:
- Standard Precision Modes - Parameters are kept within safe, stable ranges to ensure reliable operation regardless of changing conditions. This mode prioritizes stability over fine detail detection.
- High Precision Modes - Parameters are tuned to capture fine details in motion. These modes are ideal when precision is required but may need occasional parameter adjustments (automatic tuning options are available).
Standard Precision Modes
Use the mode below in simple scenarios where you only need to detect general body movement without focusing on fine details. The Standard Precision Mode is a practical choice that performs well in long-term, unattended operation scenarios.
Wide Range mode
Wide Range mode detects objects in motion in full range (specific distance from a camera defined by a user is not applied). Motion releases the interaction effect.
Diff Frames mode - Image preview after calibration

Wide Rangefor interactive floor, wall or table if you want the movement of the entire body to be detected, not just elements close to the surface.
High Precision Modes
Use the high precision modes whenever your application needs to detect small or detailed interactions, such as:
- feet on the floor,
- hands on a table surface,
- balls bouncing off a wall.
High precision modes may require periodic parameter tuning. You can enable automatic parameter tuning during Motioncube startup or use the quick adjustment panels available in Menu > Settings > Advanced (read how-to).
For even greater stability, you can activate additional camera parameter stabilizers to minimize the effect of changing environmental conditions.
Diff Frames mode
Diff Frames mode detects objects in motion in full range (specific distance from a camera defined by a user is not applied). Motion releases the interaction effect.

Diff Framesfor interactive table if you want to eliminate stationary object interaction i.e. to avoid unintended effect triggered without hand moving.
Single frame mode
Single frame mode detects stationary objects and objects in motion within a defined range (distance from a camera). The interaction effect will be triggered by both: moving and stationary objects.

Mixed mode
Mixed mode detects only moving objects (similar to Diff Frames mode), but only near the surface (similar to Single Frame mode).
